Diabetes Management in Aged Care

Redevelopment of Diabetes Management in Aged Care resource

Client: Diabetes Australia

The increasing prevalence of diabetes has meant that residential aged care facilities are facing the growing burden of caring for, and managing clients with diabetes.

Best practice diabetes management for older people has evolved over time. We now have a better understanding of diabetes and its implications for people who receive aged care services. And there have been many improvements in diabetes medications and insulin therapies.

KP Health provided expert advice and support to Diabetes Australia to redevelop the Diabetes Management in Aged Care resource to reflect updated knowledge about diabetes and its management.

Our consultation with stakeholders demonstrated the resource is highly valued in the aged care sector.

The redeveloped resource provides an evidence-based framework for assessment and management of people with diabetes who are cared for by aged services providers.
